Botanical Gardens Gold Card Trip Thursday April 24th 2014
We caught the train and went out to Manurewa and viewed another area of our beautiful city.
What a great ride we had looking at all the stops along the way.
So relaxing and enjoyable.
Walked across and caught the bus to the Botanical Gardens with lots of help from people living in the area
it was so pleasant
We found the cafe and a round table and all enjoyed a wonderful lunch..

Then ventured outside to look at the gardens when down came the rain.
still I have taken lots of photos we all want to come back again, and will order the cart and a commentary
of the Botanical Gardens for next time.

THE FESTIVAL NEWS AND PHOTOS
Our festival The Ides of March was a great success.
We tried having it at a different time this year. But the Ides of
March turned out to be a mad March day with cyclone Lusi threatening to spoil
things. We decided not to cancel, and had over 40 people brave the weather to
join in the fun, and a jolly good time was had by all. Special mention was made
in the feedback of the fellowship and friendliness. That, of course, was due to
the efforts of our wonderful festival committee of Betty Faeson, Clara Gillanders,
Jennifer Lee, Joan Lardner-Rivlin, Beate Matthies, Julia Masters, Pat Bish and
Val Bird who worked so hard
to make it the success it was. Special thank also to the new Takapuna Community Coordinator, Rachel
Bro, fitted into the group quickly and easily and afterwards said how much she
had enjoyed working with us.

THE RUMMIKUB MEETINGS
The Rummikub is about bringing people together
It is played with 2 or 4 players
At the Brown's Bay Community Centre
Glen Road on Wednesday Mornings
What a delight last Wednesday when I visited the Rummikub
of the Older Women's Network.
After asking a few people where to go I took the lift to the top floor.
I very nervously ventured into the room to be met by some nervous people were wondering who this person was.
After introductions etc I wandered around the tables seeing how the game was played .

I was welcomed to morning tea and met all the people there.
This group has been set up by Dawn Watson of the Older Women's Network what a wonderful group of people. Dawn it is a real credit to you for all your hard work . Thank you for the opportunity to call on the group. The members are very keen for more members to come along and join them. They gathered together for a photo which I have put up on this Blog.
So come along Members of Older Women's Network and support Dawn Watson and Paddy Behr at the
Rummikub Club Meetings held each Wednesday morning.
Please ring Dawn 414-5351 or Paddy 478-9399 if you would like to come.
